Musings on the Banned List for RP
Extra Turn/Phase: Makes sense on here, no comments.
Storm: Umm. . . I honestly don't understand a blanket Storm ban, especially with a speed cap. Tendrils of Agony would make sense, but some of them aren't that bad. I'd be more likely to say ban rituals and leave most of the storm stuff in, you'd have to go several turns with no casts to reach a good storm count.
Omniscience: I can kind of see this, but I feel like it probably isn't ban worthy. *shrug*
Wits End: Makes sense.
Worldfire: I can see it.
Channel: Not bad, Life caps at 10 and Mastery caps at 20. You can only do so much with it.
Genesis Wave: Effects like this just don't function fairly here.
Primal Surge: See Genesis Wave
Early Harvest: Apparently on the banned list because nonsense. Should be read as "Cards referencing "land""
Wheel of Sun and Moon: It's too bad this doesn't really function in this.
Eldrazi creatures: I'm assuming this means the ones with Annihilator. Which kind of makes sense.
Elixir of Immortality: Umm. . . Same as WoSaM I guess. At least, I hope so, because 3 mana for 5 life is far from broken.
Notable Exclusions:
Epic Experiment: Same reason as Genesis Wave
Anything banned/restricted in Legacy: Some of these don't work, some are broken, and no one wants to attempt to understand what Shahrazad does flavor-wise.
That said, we should totally allow Booster Tutor on the condition that they make a video of themselves opening the pack. xD
Just ban anything referencing the library.
- ways to make drawing/milling/searching/discard work:
1.) Treat each card in your library as X cards, where X equals rarity (com=4, unc=3, rar=2, myth=1).
2.) Actually make a full library and hand, allowing up to X copies of each card.

- handicaps to help new characters get started:
At the beginning of an instance of PvP, the character with the lower number of points assigned gains extra "phantom" points to assign for that combat only, equal to 1/5th the difference in points, rounded up. (1/3rd? 1/2th? equal to the difference?)
Pros: Allows older characters to be challenged, allows newer characters to survive fights.
Cons: Potentially allows a very old character to be defeated by a beginning one.
- planeswalker "emblems:
Characters could go on a thematically related quest to earn a token of a planeswalker's or legendary creature's favor, taking the form of an emblem with an activated ability. The ability is usually the planeswalker's positive ability or an activated ability of the legendary creature. The Emblem can only be used once per combat (per adventure? once only?).
